Starbucks Pin Design
— Pin Design & Case Study
As a former Partner, receiving pins from the company was exciting. These pins were usually given out during events, launches, and appreciation. I was very fortunate to be commissioned to create a specialized pin for the company I once worked for.
Earth is used to represent that the experience is worldwide and can be seen in every store.
The shape of the design is a circle — to show the continuity and timelessness of the Starbucks experience.
The three circles inside the design are borrowed from the Starbucks Excellence graphic in their Field Ops Handbook.
The star represents one of Starbucks’ notable design elements — the star.

The client had another graphic designer work on the pin and wanted both of us to find a solution to combine both concepts. Unfortunately, designer two (left graphic) was not able to assist and gave all creative freedom to me. Ultimately, I did not want the other designer’s work to go to waste and decided to incorporate their design.
