Starbucks Pin Design

— Pin Design & Case Study

As a former Partner, receiving pins from the company was exciting. These pins were usually given out during events, launches, and appreciation. I was very fortunate to be commissioned to create a specialized pin for the company I once worked for.

  • Earth is used to represent that the experience is worldwide and can be seen in every store.

  • The shape of the design is a circle — to show the continuity and timelessness of the Starbucks experience.

  • The three circles inside the design are borrowed from the Starbucks Excellence graphic in their Field Ops Handbook.

  • The star represents one of Starbucks’ notable design elements — the star.

Collaboration & final concepts

The client had another graphic designer work on the pin and wanted both of us to find a solution to combine both concepts. Unfortunately, designer two (left graphic) was not able to assist and gave all creative freedom to me. Ultimately, I did not want the other designer’s work to go to waste and decided to incorporate their design.
